Mission Oaks Gardens Celebrates National Public Garden Day with Fairy Festivities and Native Plant Sale

ZANESVILLE, OH- Mission Oaks Gardens celebrated National Public Garden Day with vibrant festivities, including a native plant sale that attracted garden enthusiasts and families.
The annual event not only showcases the garden’s lush landscapes but also marks the whimsical return of their garden fairies.
“Yesterday was National Public Gardens Day, and then we always have our native plant sale the same weekend to celebrate Mission Oaks Gardens, this is one of our most well-known featured public gardens, so we also welcome the fairies back, they head south for the winter and then they arrive here in May and now they’re here now,” Mission Oaks Gardens Administrative Assistant, Michelle Illing said.
There were over 50 different plant species for sale at the event. Local artisans and shop vendors contributed to the festive atmosphere, offering everything from Reiki to handcrafted decorations.
“We put a lot into creating this garden, we have a team of volunteers kind of rebuild and welcome the fairies back, but that’s kind of my fun creative part that I get to do and then organizing the event with the vendors and the plant sale, we really want to promote native plants here and we focus on landscaping so that you can do it in your house, you don’t need a million acres, you can do it just in an acre yard,” said Illing.
