Money Released for 2nd Phase of Buckeye Lake Project
Two state lawmakers announce the state’s approval of $25.9(m) in funding to begin the second phase of construction at the Buckeye Lake Dam.
Republicans Troy Balderson, of Zanesville and Jay Hottinger, of Newark, said the money will be released to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The second phase of the project will involve the additional soil mix construction of the supporting buttress behind the cutoff wall, which was completed during the project’s first phase.
Senator Balderson said the lake will soon be restored as a vibrant tourist community.
Last week, Balderson released a statement that said ODNR had made a decision to raise water levels on the lake to just one foot below normal for the summer boating season.
