More Miles for Your Money

With gas prices nearly $4.00 a gallon —  getting more miles is on the mind of drivers. Sitting in traffic maybe costing you more than just your time. Every time you have to stop and go you use more gas, but there are ways to make even your SUV more fuel efficient.

"Keep your car tuned up. Proper tire inflation is very important. Oil changes will even help. Additives, fuel additives like our 44 K," said Rob Gray, CasTech Service Station.

Gray says proper tire inflation greatly effects gas mileage. To check your tires use a gauge or stop by and have a mechanic check.

"With just proper tire inflation alone you can pick up about 1 mile per gallon. If your tires are low it just carries more friction and it is harder for your motor to push the car and it uses more fuel," advises Gray.

Even those who drive Hybrids can benefit from proper tire inflation.

"It saves the life of your tires. Under inflated or over inflated can wear the life of your tires making you replace your tires more often," said Gray.

Tires are not the only thing you should check. Pop your hood and check your air filter. Having a dirty air filter verse a clean air filter maybe another reason you are burning more fuel.

Doing each of these things should make a noticeable difference by summer when gas prices creep to $4.00 a gallon.
