Morgan Co. Man Charged In Athens Bank Incident
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office says a Morgan County man is being charged in connection with an attempted bank robbery. Sheriff Patrick Kelly says 25-year-old Carl Davis of 6396 State Route 78 in McConnelsville is in custody. The Sheriff says on Saturday when bank employees reported to work at 8 a.m. they confronted Davis crouching in the closet next to the teller’s station. Sheriff Kelly says the employees exited the bank and screamed for members of the Amesville Fire Department who were preparing for a nearby festival. The suspect also ran out of the bank and into the woods and was later caught. Davis is facing attempted robbery charges. The sheriff says a hole was cut through the ceiling and that’s how the suspect gained entry.
