Morgan County Fatal Accident Investigated

The Marietta Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal accident. 

Troopers say it happened Thursday evening just before 5:30 p.m. on State Route 376 in Morgan Township.  Sergeant Michael Seabolt says 16-year-old Athena Lowe was driving a Chevrolet Cruze north on 376, went left of center and collided head-on with a Hyundai Tiburon that was driven by 18-year-old Sara Lynn Riggs of Crooksville. 

Troopers say Riggs’ vehicle then slid off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The Highway Patrol says one of the passengers in the Riggs vehicle, 19-year-old Dusty Wallace of Stockport, was killed in the accident.  A second passenger in the Riggs vehcle, 19-year-old Kody McGrath of Malta, Lowe and Riggs were all taken to Genesis HealthCare in Zansville for treatment of injuries. 

The accident remains under investigaiton.

UPDATE:  After being taken to the hospital, Sara Riggs has also passed away due to her injuries.
