Most Wanted Program Success

Since the Muskingum County Most Wanted program has started up again, several of the suspects have been apprehended.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said he is pleased with the response from the program.

“With this one today, we’ve had nine suspects listed through the media and we’ve been able to catch three of them,” said Lutz. “The first couple we caught really quickly, recently we’ve started to trail off a little bit, but the tips haven’t. We’ve been getting a lot of tips from our citizens.”

Lutz said the program is a good and easy way for Muskingum County residents to be involved and help the Sheriff’s Office get criminals off the streets. He says tips from citizens have been crucial.

“There have been some times where we’ve been really close to getting there and someone left just prior to us arriving,” he said. “We think it’s a very valuable asset to our agency. We have a lot of citizens who like to be involved. This is a way for them to be involved and make a difference in our community.”

Lutz says his office works with the detectives to identify people they haven’t been able to find. He says they focus on suspects who are accused of severe crimes.
