Mother Pleads Not Guilty

A Zanesville mother accused of accidentally running over her two-year-old daughter appeared in court Wednesday.

27-year-old Kayla Jordan pled not guilty to one count of child endangering and one count of having an expired license plate in Zanesville Municipal Court.

Zanesville Police say on Saturday Jordan’s daughter was not in a child safety seat and got out of the back of Jordan’s car in their Cliffwood Avenue driveway. Officers say Jordan was unaware of this and ran the girl over with her car.

The child was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus with scrapes and bruising.

The Clerk of Courts Office says her pre-trial is scheduled for June 11.

Jordan is also facing a charge of child endangering from an April incident.
