Movement on Main hosts The Nutcracker auditions

ZANESVILLE, OH- Movement on Main held auditions throughout the day for the annual Nutcracker show at Secrest Auditorium.

This is Movement on Main’s 13th year organizing the show. Kids from ages four and up are able to audition and everyone who auditions will receive a part.

“I think it’s an amazing tradition, our students look forward to it every year, they love to see themselves progress through the different roles and it’s a great opportunity for the community too, to come out and see a ballet production that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to see,” said Movement on Main Director, Whitney Lewis.

The Nutcracker has been an important part of the holiday season in Zanesville even before Movement on Main began to organize the show.

“The Nutcracker has been going on in Zanesville at least since we’ve been doing it, since the late 90’s if not sooner, and so we have a ton of community members who come out and see the show every year and they look forward to it, and like Whitney said our students love it so every time that somebody comes up to us and they’re like The Nutcracker is my favorite time, it’s Nutcracker season now and it’s August and they’re like it’s Christmas time, so they all have shirts with The Nutcracker and they’re all talking about what parts they’re going to be or they go home and they choreograph their own show and they’re like can I show you some choreography that I did? Just because they love it so much and that’s what we used to do as kids too,” said Artistic Director, Morgan Lothes-Rahn.

The Nutcracker will open at the Secrest Auditorium on Thanksgiving weekend, there will be a total of four shows with two on November 30th and two on December 1st. Tickets for The Nutcracker will go on sale November 1st on the Secrest Auditorium website.
