Multi Vehicle Accident Closes Interstate 70 Near Norwich

The State Highway Patrol and Muskingum County EMA are both on the scene of a multiple vehicle accident on Interstate 70 near the Norwich exit.

EMA officials said a FedEx truck caused the accident when it drove off the side of the roadway and landed in Salt Creek. Officials said the driver is expected to be OK, but fuel is leaking into the creek and the EPA has been advised.

Authorities told us they expect I-70 westbound to be closed until midnight.

Lieutenant Matt Boyd with the state patrol said exit 163 is currently shutdown. The Lieutenant said motorists should get off the interstate at either exit 169 or 164 and can get back onto the interstate at exit 160.

The lieutenant said no fatalities have been reported in the accident. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
