Muskingum 250 Celebration Continues
ZANESVILLE, OH – Muskingum County History has events coming up for residents of Muskingum County to learn a little bit more about where they live, work, and play.
The events kick off this week on Wednesday, April 16th, at 6PM at the Putnam Presbyterian Church with the Life and Times of John McIntire.
Larisa Harper, the Executive Director of the Muskingum County History, said coming up later this month, an April 25th, will be their first Movie Night featuring “The Last of the Mohicans”.
“We also have a movie night, that along with the McIntire presentation is a part of the Muskingum 250 Initiative,” Harper said. “As we lead up to America’s 250th anniversary, Muskingum 250 has been very busy with programming and activities.”
The last event they have planned for this month is “The Tell-Tale Play” on April 30th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Zanesville Community Theater.
Harper said as May approaches they’re also gearing up for the start of tour season at the Stone Academy and Dr. Increase Mathews House.
“We’re always interested in opportunities to share the history of Muskingum County,” Harper said. “There are people who remark on how important Muskingum County has been for a couple hundred years or more and they way the people, the events, and the places impact the Nation and we need to be proud of that history. We need to share the history especially with our younger people so that the memories and the information last forever and we tell the story over and over again.”
If you are interested in volunteering with Muskingum 250, there will be a Volunteer Meeting sometime at the beginning of May.
