Muskingum County Board of Elections in Need of Poll Workers

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Board of Elections is actively seeking individuals to join their team as poll workers for the upcoming election.

This opportunity is open to those who are at least 17 years of age, registered to vote, and a Muskingum County resident. Serving as a poll worker is not only a great way to contribute to your community, but also an excellent addition to college applications or resumes.

“We’re in need of poll workers to fill spots at our polling locations. Right now, we’re a little short in filling those positions. We do have classes available on Friday and next Tuesday. If there’s anybody who wants to be a volunteer, they can call us and let us know and we’ll get those seats filled up,” Election Clerk, Richard Malik said.

Poll workers are responsible for setting up polling stations, assisting voters with the voting process, and packing up equipment once the polls close. An election day for poll workers begin at 5:30 AM and end at 7:30 PM, followed by equipment teardown and packing.

“They will be checking in voters, handing out ballots, assisting voters with getting their ballots filled out, scanning ballots and things like that. It’s all around an experience for everybody,” Malik said.

If you’re interested in becoming a poll worker, fill out a form on the Muskingum County Board of Elections website.
