Muskingum County BOE Urges Voter Registration

ZANESVILLE, OH – Ohio’s Primary Election is just a little over a month away and the Muskingum County Board of Elections wants to make sure you’re registered to vote.

The deadline to register for the March 19th primary is February 20th. The Board of Elections Office will be closed on February 19th in observance of President’s Day.

Richard Malik, Election Specialist and Trainer at the Board of Elections, said if you are going to vote in the upcoming election, double check if all of your information is valid.

“What we would like for everyone to do is come in and get registered, number one,” Malik said. “Or check their registration, make sure they’re up to date with their; name, addresses and all of that. If they don’t feel like they can come inside our office then they can go on to the Secretary of State’s website or the Muskingum County website.”

Malik said you can update your information online as well as check for your polling location. He also said it’s important to register because your voice matters.

“You’re pretty much helping out the democratic processes by selecting our future leaders,” Malik said. “In America, the County, and the State and things like that. It’s very important to register to vote to get your voice out there and be heard.”

The Board of Elections Office will close at 9PM on February 20th.

Early voting for the March Primary will begin on February 21st.
