Muskingum County Commissioners Secure $346,000 Grant from Ohio Department of Aging

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Commissioners met Monday to discuss a grant through the Ohio Department of Aging.
The Commissioners were notified a few weeks ago about this opportunity for funding called the Healthy Aging Grant. Kate Paul, the Executive Director for the Center for Seniors, applied for the $346,000 grant and was approved.
“The Commissioners had asked me to apply for this grant to see what we could hopefully gain from it,” Paul said. “We had a short turn around, but we got it! We were just meeting to discuss the structure and how this is going to work out.”
The grant money will go towards housing assistance, food assistance, and technology for the Center. Paul says she’s excited to partner with other local community agencies to help expand programs at the Center for Seniors.
“We’re excited to partner with the community agencies that already do some of the things we’re looking towards addressing,” Paul said. “As well as bridging some of the gaps that we have here in Muskingum County.”
The Center for Seniors has until the end of 2024 to spend the money from this one-time grant.
