Muskingum County Fairgrounds Receive $106,831 Grant

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fairboard recently received a grant to help with improvements to the fairgrounds.
The $106,831 grant came from the Ohio County & Independent Fairs grant program, which was established to support county and independent agricultural areas that required improvements.
Gail Dietrick, the President of the Fair Board, says they are very grateful and excited to get some of these much needed improvements underway.
“We have plans of refurbishing the restrooms that we call “the backgate” or behind the pig barn.” Dietrick said. “The bathroom’s very old and we’ve tried our best to keep it going and keep it updated, but of course, things change over the years. We definitely need updated fixtures, it just needs updated in general.”
Also this weekend at the Fairgrounds will be the Muskingum County Summer Tractor Pull.
The Summer Pull Pre party will begin at 6PM on Friday with live music from K-Sound Entertainment.
The event continues Saturday with the gates opening up at noon and the mini tractor pulls starting at 1:30PM.
Rodney Crooks, the Chairman of the Summer Tractor Pull, says this event is a thank you to all of those who put so much work into the Fair each and every year.
“We have a large facility, we house, at the Fair the biggest event in Muskingum County and this is just something we want to, for Friday night, is appreciation.” Crooks said. “For anybody that’s done anything, just come out and see what we do have.”
