Muskingum County Fairgrounds to see Restroom Renovation

The Muskingum County Commissioners opened bids for a fair grounds renovation project Thursday.

The fair grounds bathroom facility renovation is estimated to cost $170,000 to complete. Community Development Director Shelia Samson said it’s time to update the restrooms for all using the grounds throughout the year.

“The current condition of that restroom is in dire need of renovations,” said Samson. “The community uses that facility throughout the year not just for the fair but you have your farmer’s market and there’s a lot of other events that are on going through the year so a safe clean updated restroom is important.”

The commissioners saw three bids for the project and now the engineer will review the bids and make a recommendation on which bid to award the project. Samson said the new facility will feature more stalls and handicap accessibility.

“The building will actually be gutted,” said Samson. “The only thing left will be the shell. So we’re going to make sure it’s ADS accessible, handicap accessibility, so they’ll have new flooring, plumbing, all new fixtures, and electrical. ”

The bid is expected to be chosen within the next two weeks and the commissioners hope to complete the project in mid-July.
