Muskingum County GOP Announces Endorsements

The Muskingum County Republican Party Policy Committee met to endorse candidates for next year’s election and there was one big surprise. Party Chairman Pat Hennessey says instead of endorsing current County Commissioner Steve Strauss – the party instead is endorsing Todd Sands. Strauss was appointed to the seat by the Party Executive Committee when former commissioner Brian Hill was appointed to the 94th State Representative seat vacated by Troy Balderson. A call to Strauss for reaction has not yet been returned. The rest of the party endorsements included Eddie Brock for the other County Commission seat…Sheriff Matt Lutz …Cindy Rodgers for Recorder since Karen Vincent is retiring…and Carol Friel for Treasurer. The Committee also endorsed Engineer Doug Davis…Prosecutor Mike Haddox…Clerk of Courts Todd Bickle…20th District State Senator Troy Balderson 94th District State Representative Brian Hill and County Court Judge Eric Martin. Hennessey says there were 149 members of the Policy Committee who voted on Wednesday night’s endorsements.
