ZANESVILE, Ohio- Muskingum County Head Start hosted its annual harvest feast family event at Coburn United Methodist Church Thursday.

Disabilities and Mental Health Manager, Desirae Chema said head start currently serves about 256 children, and has 15 classrooms, with five sites throughout Muskingum County.  Chema said head start’s mission is to partner with the community to provide support and encouragement through nurturing relationships.

“Our feast gives us an opportunity- with those community partners (to) provide information and resources for our parents,” Chema said.

Chema said head start hosts several parent events throughout the year. But the harvest feast seem to be a family favorite.

“Just being together with our families, getting to connect with them. We do a little program with our children. They get to preform.  Everyone seems to enjoy it,” Chema said.

Chema said the most rewarding part of working with head start is getting to connect with families and providing them all the support they need.
