Muskingum County History Gears Up for Events that are Sure to Warm Your Heart

ZANESVILLE, OH – Muskingum County History is inviting the community to embrace the ‘ber’-months and learn a little bit of history at the same time.
Coming up at the end of the week on Friday at 6:30PM will be a Movie Night at OUZ in Elson Hall.
The film will be “Drums Along the Mohawk” and Executive Director, Larisa Harper, says this TV-14 film focuses on the Revolutionary War and there will be a discussion following the movie.
As we move through the “ber”-months and into October, there will be the “Putnam Underground Railroad Symposium” on Saturday the 4th from 9AM until 4PM.
“It’s free for the Symposium but if attendees would like to enjoy a wonderful buffeted lunch prepared by Chef Steve and his team, there is a $20 charge for that.” Harper said. “We are asking for preregistration, so that we know how many people are coming, and also the number of people who want to enjoy the lunch.”
As November and thoughts of turkey dinners come around, there will be a Genealogy focused program taking place on November 19th at 6PM in OUZ’s Herold Hall.
Harper says this program will help people learn more about where their ancestors may have come from before settling down in Ohio.
“Into December, we’re still working on details, but probably the second weekend of December we’re going to have, what I’m really looking forward to, we’re calling the “Holiday Tour of Historical Homes”.” Harper said. “This will be of homes in the Putnam Area and like I said we’re still working on details but we’ll be able to share that as we get closer and people can take advantage of that.”
