Muskingum County Jr. Fair Board to Host ‘Stock the Trailer’ Campaign
ZANESVILLE, OH – Monday at the Muskingum County Fair you have the chance to help out the area’s hungry.
On Monday, August 12th, starting at 7AM and going until 1PM, members of the Muskingum County Junior Fair Board will be Stocking a Trailer full of canned food.
During those times you will be able to get into the Fair for the price of 4 cans of food.
Jamie McConnell, an Educator in 4 H Youth Development, says the coolest thing about the Stock the Trailer Campaign is that the Fair Board gets to compete with other Fair Boards to see who collects the most food.
“We get to compete against other Fairs in our region for cash prizes, and we actually won first in our Region last year, we won $5,000,” McConnell said. “But, the key thing, the most important thing is that we are serving our community by collecting canned food.”
All cans collected from Stock the Trailer will be heading to Christ’s Table to help feed the growing number of people who stop in.
Keely Warden, the Executive Director of Christ’s Table, says after last year’s Stock the Trailer campaign, the Table was stocked with food until this past April.
“This is the perfect time of the year because we’ve had a long, hot summer. The kids have been out of school. Our numbers have gone up, so this always comes at the right time,” Warden said. “As we get ready for fall to hit and that’s so much why we’re so very, very grateful for.”
