Muskingum County Recognized as StormReady by NWS
ZANESVILLE, OH – Muskingum County was recognized for its preparedness in the wake of severe weather.
Members of the National Weather Service met with the Muskingum County Commissioners as well as Emergency Management Agency Director Jeff Jadwin.
Matt Burdy, a Meteorologist with the NWS in Pittsburgh, says it’s important for all areas to be prepared for bad weather and Muskingum County has gone above and beyond that.
“We love to have all of our counties and communities be ready to respond and take action when there’s hazardous weather as opposed to reacting when things happen,” Burdy said. “Jeff [Jadwin] has taken great steps to keep the County prepared and have great plans in place ahead of hazardous weather, which Muskingum County is no stranger to, given the number of tornadoes so far this year with 5 just through the month of June.”
Jadwin says there are already a number of counties in the state that are already Storm Ready but this moment of recognition meant a lot to him.
“This is just something I wanted to get achieved for the County to get the recognition that we’re ready to respond,” Jadwin said. “Looking at other ways to help before a storm gets here.”
Jadwin was presented with a certificate as well as a sign to display, showing that our County is Storm Ready.
