Muskingum Sheriff’s Office Receives Funding for a new K9
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- One local resident is making a generous donation to benefit a good cause.
The Muskingum County Community Foundation is presenting a $7,200 check to the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office from an anonymous donor to go towards purchasing a new K9 to add to the narcotics unit.
"We had an anonymous donor who have contacted us who have had a fund here at the Muskingum County Community Foundation for several years and over the year he has distributed funds out to activities and organizations and groups that he is very passionate about and he was very passionate about making sure that the Muskingum Sheriff’s Department was able to put another K-9 Unit out into the community so he instructed us to distribute funds on his behave again as an anonymous donor," said Brian Wagner, CEO, M.C.C.F.
We talked to Sheriff Lutz who said they made an agreement with M.C.C.F to pick up the K-9 last Friday and they named him Narco. Currently Narco is in his fourth day of training. Wagner said he thinks this donation will be very beneficial to strengthen the Sheriff’s Offices’ K9 unit.
"I think the Sheriff’s Department was very happy to hear that there is a member in the community that is willing to step up and put dollars towards their cause," said Wagner.
Lutz said Narco will be in intensive 6 to 8 weeks of training and then he must pass the state certification test before starting his first day of work.
