Conservation District meets with Commissioners

ZANESVILLE, OHIO-Â The district meets with the county commissioners twice a year, both in May and November.
On Monday, members of the soil & water district spoke with the commissioners on the latest with the district’s budget, along with this years accomplishments and upcoming events for 2017.
Lisa Crock, Administrator for the district said that they received a lot of grant funds this past year.
“One of our grants we received was through the National Association Conservation District and that allowed us to employ a person part-time for one year,” said Crock. Â “She is going to be working in the urban agricultural sector, specifically developing some community gardens in the Putnam area.”
Crock said that community gardens are one of the many plans slated for 2017.
She also mentioned that the district was approved as a sponsor for the ODA Farmland Preservation programs in 2017.
