New Concord- Muskingum University is on the hunt for a new president.

Current President Susan Hasseler has announced she plans to retire after the 2025-26 academic year, closing a decade of leadership.

“It has been the greatest privilege of my professional life to serve as president of Muskingum University,” President Hasseler said. “I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together—and even more excited about the strong foundation we’ve built for the University’s next era of impact.”

During her tenure President Hasseler oversaw the opening of the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex, a multi-use, academic, athletic and recreational facility. She also enhanced the university’s STEM offering and expanded programs for adult and graduate learners.

“President Hasseler has led with vision, integrity, and a deep belief in the transformative power of higher education,” said Muskingum University’s Board Chair Cheryl Carpenter. “She will leave the University positioned for a vibrant and dynamic future, and we remain profoundly grateful for her extraordinary leadership.”

The Muskingum University Board of Trustees will launch a national search for the university’s next president.
