Muskingum University students host a health and wellness fair

Health Fair

NEW CONCORD, OH- In a significant move to promote health and wellness among the elderly, Muskingum University’s Master of Occupational Therapy Program successfully hosted its inaugural Older Adults Health and Wellness Fair today.

The event was free to the community and specifically designed for individuals aged 65 and older. The event was held at the university’s Bullock Health and Wellness Complex from 11 a.m. to Noon.

“It’s super important for the community, this is geared towards individuals who are 65 and older, a lot of the individuals that are here today are still doing very well and are independent, but we always want to look to the future, we all want to stay in our homes as long as possible, be as healthy as long as possible, and to the best health that we can be so what the students are doing is helping to give individuals that education and tools,” said Heather Coalt, the Academic Field Work Coordinator for Muskingum University’s Master of Occupational Therapy Program.

The event served as a hands-on opportunity for students to apply their learning by engaging directly with attendees, offering them practical advice on living their lives to the fullest while ensuring safety and wellness.

“I think with anything we want to see things continue to grow and expand and see more community members coming out to participate with our students and get the education so that they can age in place and be independent and live happy and fulfilling lives,” said Coalt.

They plan to host the Older Adults Health and Wellness Fair again in 2025. Specific dates will be announced closer to the event.
