ZANESVILLE, OH – Muskingum University’s 21st President is set to retire in June.

Dr. Sue Hasseler has served as the President of Muskingum University since 2016 and says those 10 years have gone by in a flash.

She says under her many new programs and opportunities have been added for the students to explore.

“We have been really focusing on what we call the continuum of learners, which means we serve everything from CCP students in high school, to traditional undergrads, to adult learners of all ages.” Dr. Hasseler said. “We have offered or added a number of programs that make it really easy for students to go seamlessly through from CCP, to an undergrad degree, into a Masters degree, or into credentials.”

Hasseler says the thing she will miss the most about Muskingum is the students.

She says the Students were always delightful, weren’t afraid of a little challenge, and always eager to learn.

“I think that on a college campus and also out in the world around the University, there is so much to learn and so much to do.” Hasseler said. “It has been an incredible privilege to get to know this community, to get to know the students, to get to know our alums, and I will miss that very much. They’re a part of my heart”

Dr. Flavius Lilly is set to take the position of President of Muskingum University on July 1st, 2026.

We wish Dr. Hasseler all the best in her retirement.
