Muskingum Valley Council Boy Scouts of America’s First Female Council President

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum Valley Council Boy Scouts of America is welcoming a new Council President.
Amy Pinson has been involved with the Scouts for more than twenty years, she has recently been working as the Vice President of Finance for the BSA Office. Boys Scouts of America is an educational program for the youth and young adults to build character, develop personal fitness, and participate in citizenship. Pinson said she is excited for her new role especially with the increase of girls in the program.
“I was excited I was going to be the first woman President. They told me that when they asked me two years ago to become Executive Vice President, so I knew that would be the case. I was excited for the opportunity, but it’s even more important now because we’ve welcomed girls into cub scouts. We also are welcoming girls into Scouts BSA this year,” said Pinson.
Pinson also said she saw the need for someone to take on the role as President and agreed when she was asked. The President keeps the Council moving forward and takes on the responsibility of leading the monthly meetings.
“Making sure that we stay on task and meet our goals. We just completed our strategic plan for the next three years, so working with the Vice Presidents in the different areas to make sure that we keep on task with that strategic plan and have it completed at the end of three years,” she mentioned.
This will be a two year commitment for Pinson, and her official recognition as Council President will take place on Thursday at the Council Annual Meeting.
