Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center host conference for area educators

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- More than 40 area educators attended the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center’s hope and aspiration conference Tuesday.
MVESC invited Jamie Meade, the managing director of Leading and Learning at Battelle for Kids to speak about her concept of hope, which focuses on building hope and aspiration in students.
“Our are schools are working on helping kids think about their future,” MVESC Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, Cathy Morgan said. “And thinking about ways in which they can help kids develop goals, thinking of ways to instill agency, which is that self empowerment piece.”
Mid-East Assistant Director of Community Outreach, Barb Funk said the goal is to try to understand the nonacademic concept of hope.
“We know that in this day of testing and accountability that student’s success is built also around nonacademic factors,” Funk said. “Helping students understand what their interests are, their strengths, and their preferences; and how we can built hope for their future is important in every classroom across Ohio and the nation.”
