ZANESVILLE, Ohio– Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center is looking for ways to keep money in classrooms.
MVESC Superintend David Branch said they’ve received the “Straight A Grant” for more than a million dollars in 2014 in cooperation and collaboration with three other Educational Service Centers in southeast central Ohio.
“The grant has several legs to it around the idea of improving inefficiencies working together collaboratively and saving school district money,” Branch said. “All of this maintains local control at the same time we’re providing school districts opportunities for saving dollars.”
Branch said using technology can help school districts save money in transportation .
“We are looking at student rider ship. In other words, how many kids are actually riding school buses. And how can we optimize that information and develop school buss routes which are both timely for students. In other words, students don’t have to ride as long and also save mileage, and or the number of buses traveling the roads,” Branch said.
Branch said their goal is to save school districts about 4 million dollars.
