Muskingum Valley Park District Sends 6,000 Surveys to the community

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum Valley Park District has sent out 6,000 surveys around the community consisting of questions about the local parks.

Muskingum Valley Park District Executive Director, Russell Edgington said the survey will only take a few minutes, but this could benefit the organization’s plans for years to come. The surveys were sent by mail, and consist of a variety of park influenced questions.

“We are doing a statistically valid survey and what that means is there has been a random sample of residents of Muskingum County and they are going to receive a survey in the mail and that survey basically is asking what that individual family’s opinions are, as far as parks and recreation. One of the reasons that we are excited about that is the information that we get from the survey will be used to develop a master plan that will affect the activities that we do in the next 10 to 15 years,” said, Edgington.

Edgington said if you don’t receive a survey in the mail, you can do the survey online. The surveys are not for them, he says these surveys will benefit the people that go to the parks around the county.

“It is not about what we are hoping to see, it is what the community wants. The Park District has been around for about 25 years and it has really always been about what we thought that the community wanted. We are going to do things a little bit different and we are going to actually ask the community members to tell us what they want us to become,” said Edgington.

Edgington said if you want your voice to be heard, you can also attend a meeting at your local library.
