Nashport Has Surprise Celebration

Students at Nashport Elementary School got a surprise when they arrived to school Friday morning.

They were treated to a day-long celebration including a pep rally, blow-up toys, snacks and a movie. Faculty planned the day as a reward, because the students scored so well on their Ohio Achievement Tests.

"It was a total surprise, nobody knew it was even going to happen and so they’re really hyped about today," says Tobi Doyle, fourth grade teacher.

The entire Tri-Valley School District received an excellent rating from the state. Nashport Elementary has been especially successful and Superintendent Mark Neal attributes their success to the dedication of the teachers and parents.

"Nashport was actually excellent with distinction and they did a fabulous job on the achievement test scores a couple years in a row now and they continue to perform and do better, quite a bit better than the majority of the elementary schools in the state so we’re very proud," says Neal.

The students were able to continue their celebration Friday night as Tri-Valley High School holds their Homecoming football game against Philo.
