Nashport Man Killed in Crash

The Granville Post of the Highway Patrol says an area man was killed in an accident.

Trooper say an SUV was traveling east Wednesday afternoon just before 3:00 p.m. on US 40, and made a left turn onto Panhandle Road.

Investigators say at the same time a motorcycle, also traveling east on US 40 attempted to pass the SUV and struck the left rear quarter panel of the vehicle.

The motorcycle rider is identified as 47-year-old Jeffrey Knuap of Nashport, who died at the scene. Knaup was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The name of the 17-year-old driver of the SUV was not released.

The Highway Patrol says the preliminary cause of the crash is Improper Passing in a no passing zone. The crash remains under investigation.
