National Travel and Tourism Week 2026

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week, May 3rd through the 9th, marks National Travel & Tourism Week.

Jordin Harmer, the Manager of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, says this week is meant to highlight the importance of tourism on the local economy.

She says the most recent number shows that Muskingum County brought in $272 Million from tourists stopping in and seeing what our area has to offer.

“It affects 32,000 jobs and we linked over $164 Million in direct visitors spending.” Harmer said. “So tourism and travel is vital to Muskingum County’s economy.”

Harmer says these numbers are encouraging and she’s excited to see the updated numbers in the coming months.

She says this week also serves as a thank you to the workers in every sector of hospitality and tourism; from hotel staff, Air BnB owners, restaurant owners, and gas station workers, Harmer says they are thrilled to highlight everyone’s hard work.

“We have the National Road and Zane Grey Museum, the John and Annie Glenn Museum, the Zanesville Museum of Art which is open all year round.” Harmer said. “We have lots of different historical [spots], The Mathews House, the Stone Academy, there’s so many sites to enjoy the history of Muskingum County.”
