Nelson Gant Scholarship Awarded
A local girl with a bright future is receiving a well deserved scholarship tonight.
Jericah Singleton of Zanesville High School received the Nelson Gant Scholarship. Jericah is very excited and honored to be given this award.
“It is a big honor to have it and cause I know there was probably lots of other people who are more deserving than me and I thank god they chose me,” tells Jericah Singleton.
Jericah is already attending the Ohio Institute of Art in Cincinnati and is studying fashion merchandising. She says the scholarship money will be used to help pay for her books and tuition at school. The panel that selected Jericah says she is an outstanding individual.
“She had a lot of enthusiasm, she was very involved in her school at Zanesville High School, very active in the devilettes, she was first lieutenant her last year of school. She showed a lot of interest in her work in terms of going to school early and getting off to a real good start in college,” says Anita Jackson, project director at Nelson Gant House.
The ceremony took place at the Nelson Gant House this afternoon. The scholarship funds were donated by Judge Perry B. Jackson.
