New Genesis E-R To Open Saturday

There are only a few short days left before the remaining patients move from Good Samaritan Hospital to Bethesda.

The emergency department on the Good Samaritan Campus will close Saturday at 6AM. At that time, the new emergency department will open at the new Genesis Hospital and the remaining one hundred and fifty patients will be moved. Director of Lean Six Sigma, Chuck Adams described how they will handle things once the doors close to Good Samaritan for the last time.

“We’re going to have lots of signs up obviously directing them over to this campus but if someone would show up there and needed service, our ED over there will have some staff that we can handle that.”

Adams said the new ED has twice the number of rooms compared to the old hospital. There are three trauma bays, a major medical room and imaging radiology and CT rooms. Adams described the feelings about the approaching opening.

“It’s so important to us. It’s going to be a great service for the community. You know there was a lot of thought and a lot of planning that went into making sure that patients are serviced quickly so hopefully we wont see some of the [weights] that we’ve been experiencing in the past.”

Adams said the new hospital will also allow for more efficient flow. Visitation hours the day of the move will be restricted until after 5PM.
