New improvements offer an easier visit to the Muskingum County Fair

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Those who have attended the Muskingum county fair this week may have noticed new improvements by the back gate.

The restroom at the back gate of the fairgrounds has been completely rebuilt from the ground up in an effort to become more handicap accessible. The asphalt has also been paved in the area to make accessing the restroom an easier task. According to Jerry Miller, the fairgrounds treasurer, this was part of a long list of improvements they want to work on for the fairgounds.

“We always have a list. We have a huge list of future improvements that we want to do. With proper funding and help with commissioners and state funds and grants,” Miller said.

The asphalt was made possible through donations by The Shelly Company, Birkhimer Asphalt, and several community members. The new restroom building was made possible through state grant funding and financial support from the county commissioners office.

“We’re self funded. We’re not tax payer supported. So, without the grants from the state and the help from the commissioners office, those are very important for us to be able to do the improvement. And, we’d like to, like I say, more improvements like in our electrical grid or water grid and maybe even a couple of other buildings,” Miller said.

The Muskingum County Fair continues tonight with the Corey Kent concert tonight. Tomorrow is Pepsi Day at the fair so bring an empty 20 ounce bottle of Pepsi for free admission between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. More information can be found on the Muskingum County Fair’s website.
