New Lex and Sheridan Fall in District Semi-Finals
Two MVL teams took part in the District Semi-Finals for Division II in the OHSAA State Baseball Tournament.
The New Lexington Panthers took on Waverly at Ohio University.
It didn’t take long for the seven seeded Tigers to get going. Pitcher Hunter Hauck got a base hit that scored a run from second in the first inning.
In the 3rd Inning, the Tigers double their lead. Hauk would groundout, as Waverly traded an out for a run making it 2-0 after 3.
After chipping away all game, the Panthers struck in the 5th inning. Bentley Hanson ripped one to left and would pick up a double, bringing in Lane Baker.
Garrett Blosser would drive one down center to tie the game 2-2.
The game would go to extra innings and Waverly’s Hauck would get a ball through into right field and plate the go ahead run.
In the bottom the 8th the Panthers would ground out to end the game. As Waverly advances with a 3-2 win.
In the nightcap, Sheridan entered as the 3rd seed in region 7 taking on number six taking on 6th seed Miami Trace.
Miami Trace opened the scoring in the first inning with Brady Armstrong muscling a ball into the outfield.
Sheridan would respond in the bottom of the inning. Caden Sheridan comes through, lining one into left for a double.
Brody White would follow up with a groundout to second, getting a run home on the play.
The score was deadlocked until the 6th when Miami Trace scored twice to win 3-1.
