Newark Catholic falls to Nelsonville-York

NEWARK, Ohio — The Newark Catholic Green Wave are a surprising 0-2 after falling on Saturday night 21-14 to the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes.

The Green Wave appeared to be on their way to their first win of the season after the first quarter when they held a 14-0 lead. Quarterback Hunter Chapman had a pair of touchdown runs giving Newark Catholic a two-score advantage.

However, a touchdown run by Keegan Wilburn for the Buckeyes in the second quarter got Nelsonville-York on the scoreboard and cut that lead in half just before halftime.

The Buckeyes, who came into the game coming off a week one victory versus Trimble, would outscore the Green Wave 14-0 in the final frame to mount a comeback and notch their second win of the season.

Newark Catholic will play their first road game next week as they travel to Columbus to take on Columbus Academy. Nelsonville-York on the other hand will play their first home game of the season next Friday when they host Minford.
