Newark Man Charged with Attempted Murder

A Newark man has been charged in connection with an incident involving a Licking County worker who was shot at while in his vehicle spraying for mosquitoes.

Police say 56-year-old David Brown was arrested at his home Wednesday and charged with attempted murder and felonious assault.

Brown is accused of shooting at part time Health Department employee Ronald Dierks.

Dierks reported to Police last Friday that his vehicle was shot at multiple times while driving down Cherry Street spraying for mosquitoes.

Police say Dierks suffered minor injuries from a round that passed through the driver door.

Brown is being held in the Licking County Justice Center.

His case will be presented to a Grand Jury next week.
