Newark Man Leads Police on Chase

A Newark man is being held at the Licking County Justice Center after an evening high-speed chase.

Newark Police Sergeant Tim Hickman says William Horton was involved in some kind of family dispute. He says Hickman’s family was concerned and called the Newark Police Department.

Police located Horton, but he fled in his vehicle.

Hickman says Horton led police on a chase through the city’s streets for seven minutes, with speeds topping 80 miles-per-hour.

Horton eventually lost control of his vehicle and struck a semi.

Hickman says Horton was not injured but did need to be tasered before being taken into custody.
