Newark Man Strikes & Kills Columbus Woman

The Columbus Division of Police says a woman is dead after a Newark man struck and killed her with his semi-tractor and trailer early Friday morning.

It happened just after 3 a.m.

Authorities says Shawn Grooms was traveling northbound on Interstate 270, near East Main Street, when he struck Keyona Redman of Columbus, who ran in the middle of the freeway.

Redman was pronounced dead of the scene.

Authorities say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
