Newark Mom Charged with Felony Theft

A Newark mom who left the state with her 4-year-old son last month is now facing felony theft charges.

24-year-old Sara Apple is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the Fiberglass Federal Credit Union where she was employed as a head teller.

Newark Police say a day before Apple went missing with her son Max back in June her employer reported a significant shortfall in Apple’s bank drawer.

Apple and her son were found on June 20th in Maine more than a week after they were reported missing by family.

Apple is scheduled to appear in a Licking County Courtroom on July 26th for a bond hearing.
