Newark Rd. accident sends 8 people to the hospital

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Authorities responded to an accident that closed a major road for an hour Monday evening.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, Falls Twp. Fire Department, Community Ambulance, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded around 6 p.m. to a two vehicle accident in the 2000 block of Newark Rd. or S.R. 146 just past the OUZ /Zane State Campus.

Trooper, Jordan Butler, said a gold Chevy, driven by Dakota Seabolt, went left of center striking a blue Honda.

“The gold Chevy was eastbound on 146 traveled across the center line, striking the blue Honda, said, Butler. After the impact, the Honda traveled off to the right side of the road and overturned several times. There is a silver jeep involved as well, they suffered a flat tire from debris.”

Four adults and four children were transported to Genesis Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Seabolt was cited for left of center and child safety seat.
