No Guernsey County Library Strike
It looks like a planned strike at the Guernsey County District Library for Friday will not happen because a tentative agreement has been reached.
Local 26 Union Representative for the Ohio Association of Public School Employees/AFSCME, Rachel Jordon, says the two sides came to an agreement on the two main issues – wages and benefits. No details were released, but Jordon says Thursday evening members of the union voted and passed the agreement.
The two sides spent five hours this morning with a mediator to reach the deal. On Wednesday library trustee Tom Cahoon told us he was informed by local 26 of an intent to strike for Friday at 12:01 a.m. But now that will not happen.
Cahoon says the Library District Board will meet Friday to approved the contract on its end.
