No Regrets for Steve Strauss

Muskingum County Commissioner Steve Strauss is speaking out about not being endorsed by the Republican Party.

Strauss said he was present at the meeting on Wednesday night when the Party Policy Committee endorsed Todd Sands in the commissioners race in November of 2012.  He said he has no regrets about standing up for his principles.

"There is a "Good Old Boys" network in Muskingum County, and once you step outside that circle, they’re going to find somebody else," said Strauss.  "It’s no big secret.  Everybody knew what was going on, and they found somebody else."

Strauss is trying to hang on to his seat by running as an Independent candidate.  Strauss said he still has a lot of support, and he will continue to work for the people in Muskingum County.

"I really believe that all across the country people are tired of partisan politics," said Strauss.  "They’re tired of the Republicans this and the Democrats that.  Now I’m free from all of that, and I can just work for you."

Strauss said his primary goal over the next year is to make Muskingum County the epicenter of oil production in America with Marcellus and Utica Shale development.
