Northpointe Turn Lane Opens
Newly installed 400 feet of asphalt will increase the flow of traffic on State Route 146.
A two year project in Zanesville is now completed. Mayor Jeff Tilton cut the ribbon at the intersection of 146 and Northpointe Drive. The city and county collaborated on the $263,000 project.
“We started a couple years ago hearing a lot of complaints about the traffic,” Tilton said. “[We] decided to sit down and kind of discuss this and see what we can do.
The transportation improvement district granted $163,000 for the project. The city and county split the remaining $100,000 evenly. With the barrels out of the way, the right turn lane will provide a constant stream of traffic.
“If you come out here in the evening you would know why this lane is here,” Tilton said. “It’s great, the traffic flows because most of the people coming out this way want to turn right and if those people in front are driving straight you’re backed up for sometime.”
The project also included a right turn signal on Northpointe Drive heading onto 146 north.
