ODOT Prepares for Snow
While it’s a windy autumn day for the rest of us, the Ohio Department of Transportation is already looking forward to snow.
They’re working to complete the annual 150 point snow plow inspection to ensure their equipment is ready to hit the streets when the first snow storm moves through District 5 and Manager Phil Valentine said that they hope their increased use in liquids will improve interstate 70 road conditions.
“You’re actually going to see some of our tankers out during storm events and I think the public’s always seen some of our pre treatment methods where we’ve put liquids down on the road to try to get ahead of a storm to keep bonding from happening,” said valentine. “This year you’re going to see a lot more of our tankers working during snow and ice ”
Valentine said that while he hopes we don’t see winter conditions anytime soon, ODOT is ready to plow the pavement and keep the local area safe for everyone.
“We’re committed to doing the best job we can out there to try to make it easier for the public to travel on the roadways,” said Valentine.
ODOT would also like to ask drivers to keep a safe distance from trucks. Last year, 89 vehicles struck plow trucks due to following to closely.
