ODOT’s Winter Weather Preparedness Day
With winter weather right around the corner, the Ohio Department of Transportation is conducting its Winter Weather Preparedness Days. Tuesday they were in Morgan County.
ODOT workers drove 75,360 miles removing snow and ice from the roads using 5,871 tons of salt in Morgan County last year. David Rose, PR Officer for ODOT District 10 said these events are to ensure their trucks, mechanics and drivers are prepared for the winter,
"We literally gather all of our mechanics, we go and get a 150 plus ptoint inspection on more than 120 snow plows in Southeastern Ohio."
ODOT’s core service is snow and ice removal. Rose considers these winter preparedness days the final inspections before the snow comes. Rose said that they take their job very seriously, especially since road conditions aren’t what most people want to worry about.
"The first thing they don’t really think a bout really is the roads they are going to get to until there is an accident, there’s lots of snow, something that’s causing delay in their travel" said Rose.
Rose also wants motorists to know that they can go to www.ohgo.com for traffic and winter weather road related issues.
