Offering Youth a Path Toward Success
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Ohio’s Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP) teaches self sufficiency to youth who have experienced hardships.
Muskingum County Jobs and Family Services held a graduation ceremony for local youth who have successfully completed the program.
CCMEP Outreach Manager Heidi Rowland explained how the program is making an impact here locally.
“It benefits youth under the age of 25,” Rowland said. “CCMEP is actually in every single school district here in Muskingum County and we help kids either get jobs or short term training so that they can enter a career of their choice. We also offer adult mentoring leadership, which is why we’re here today. Financial literacy, we work with drop out recovery and offenders in the area just to help them reach their goals and become self-sufficient.”
The program has partnered with area assistance organizations, employers and landlords to provide a more holistic approach in the support they present to their clientele.
Program Graduate Camryn Gates was trained in dentistry and has earned a full time employment working with Dr. Michael Whitaker at Zanesville Family Dentistry.
“In CCMEP, this is their first year if I am correct,” Gates said. “And well, I think they just really wanted to get the youth more out there. And I was financed through CCMEP for dental assisting so I completed that a couple of months ago and now I think a lot of other people have recently completed or are still in their programs so that’s how we all kind of clicked together.”
The program is available for anyone under 25, who is homeless or struggling without means of earning an income. For more information you can contact Rowland at (740) 260-5159.
