Ohio Democrats to Hold People’s Town Hall with Gov. Tim Walz
ZANESVILLE, OH – Former Vice President Candidate and Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz made a surprise stop here in Zanesville.
He partnered up with the Ohio Democratic Party to host Town Hall meetings in an effort to connect with Ohioans in Republican led congressional districts that have been affected by President Trump’s actions since taking office.
Governor Walz said since Inauguration Day he’s heard from his fellow constituents that someone needs to stand up and do something, and he’s doing just that.
“Do something about Social Security, do something about what Elon Musk is doing, do something now about the Stock Market,” Walz explained. “I don’t necessarily know what that something is but I know the public needs to be heard and I learned during the last presidential campaign, we’ve got to expand to listen to all Americans. Because what I’ve come to the conclusion is, we’ve got better ideas. I don’t think anyone’s surprised with what Donald Trump has done, but they don’t necessarily associate the Democratic Party as sharing their concerns.”
Walz said he understands that he currently has a national platform to be able to further his message to more Americans.
Democrat, Republican, and Independent voters turned out at the Downtown Exchange to ask some of the hard questions and get some much needed answers.
“This is how the democracy works and I keep saying we believe there needs to be some checks on what’s going on, but it is the fundamental responsibility of a member of Congress to listen to their constituents,” Walz said. “I said, I did those Town Halls when I was a member of Congress and you get feedback from those who disagree with you. It helps you challenge your assumptions because you’re not elected to represent your party, you’re elected to represent everybody that’s there, I think when you show up, it sends a strong message.”
The town hall meetings will be held Monday night in Youngstown and Tuesday night in Lorain.
