Ohio Oil & Gas Industry Meets in Zanesville

Hundreds of Ohio Oil & Gas workers visit Zanesville Monday and Tuesday.

The Ohio Oil & Gas Association has it’s annual summer meeting at the start of this week. Association president, David Hill, said the summer meeting is more of a celebration, and to start the meeting, around 200 people teed off Monday morning at the Zanesville Country Club.

"We have two annual events," Hill said. "The winter meeting is more of a technical session, legislative updates, things like that. This summer meeting, is more of a, I’ll liken it to a family reunion. We all get together, we’re going to have some fun together, we’re going to have a picnic, have some fellowship, and we love doing it here in Zanesville."

Although there isn’t much drilling in Muskingum County, Hill said Zanesville reaps the rewards of the booming industry.

"If you think about the shale play and what the oil and gas industry is doing these days, Zanesville, Ohio is like the geographic center," Hill said. "So it’s very convenient for all of our neighbors. 0:59 "

At dinner Monday, the association awarded the Oil Field Patriot Award to one person who exemplifies excellence in the industry. Jerry Olds received this year’s award.
